Getting your test results
If your test results show that you need more tests or treatment, we will contact you.
Once a doctor has reviewed your test results, you can view them:
- in your NHS account (through the NHS website or NHS App)
- in your Systm Online account
- as a text message, if you have consented and it is applicable

Hospital blood tests
We are aware that many of our patients will be asked by their hospital consultants to request to book a blood test at the surgery prior to a hospital appointment. Although we are now able to offer these at the surgery, sometimes it may not be possible to do this in a short timeframe if this is requested by a hospital consultant.
In this instance we would advise booking your appointment with the hospital phlebotomy clinic. Please note that the results of these tests do not come back to the practice, they will be returned to the requesting consultant at the hospital.
Blood test results, that are requested by a clinician at the practice, usually return within 24 to 48 hours (this does not apply over the weekends when the practice is closed).
If there is any follow up action to be taken then the practice will either send you a message or phone you to arrange this.
Due to the number of blood tests and scan results we receive it is not humanly possible to notify every patient if their result is normal, however results can be viewed on your online patient record.
