Ordering repeat prescriptions
The easiest way to order repeat prescriptions is:
- fill out a repeat prescriptions request form
You can also:
- use your NHS account (through the NHS website or in the NHS App)
- use the GP online system: Systm Online
These accounts show you all your repeat medicine and dosage and you can choose the ones you need.
If you want to request your contraception:
- fill out the contraception request form
We do not take repeat prescription requests over the phone or email.
Collecting your prescription
Please allow three full working days (Monday to Friday) for your prescription to be issued by the practice. We provide our patients with 28 days of repeat prescription.
You will need to choose a pharmacy to collect your prescription from. We call this nominating a pharmacy.
You can change your nominated pharmacy at any time:
- on the app or website where you order repeat prescriptions
- fill out a nominate a pharmacy form
- at any pharmacy that accepts repeat prescriptions
We are unable to take requests for prescriptions over the phone unless you are housebound. You can also post your prescription request or hand deliver it to the surgery.
SystmOnline
This service enables patients, who have registered for our online services, to request medication online. If you would like to use this service, please complete our register for online services form and then come into the surgery with some form of identification (ie. driving licence, passport, birth certificate) to receive your username and password. Please also pick up a leaflet from reception which will help you get started with using the service.
Questions about your prescription
If you have questions about your medicine, your local pharmacists can answer these. They can also answer questions on medicines you can buy without a prescription.
The NHS website has information on how your medicine works, how and when to take it, possible side effects and answers to your common questions.
If you would like to speak to someone at the GP surgery about your prescription:
- fill out an ask a prescription question form
If you would like to save time and order all the medication you have on repeat at the sample time, rather than irregular times throughout the month:
- fill out the medication synchronisation request form
When you next need to request an item on repeat, count up all the tablets you have and fill in the form. Your doctor will issue a “one off” prescription of the tablets you need to synchronise all of your medication to within a day or two.
Medication reviews
If you have a repeat prescription, we may ask you to come in for a regular review. We will be in touch when you need to come in for a review.
If you have been advised by the surgery that your medication review is due, please use this form.

What to do with old medicines
Take it to the pharmacy you got it from or bring it in to the surgery. Do not put it in your household bin or flush it down the toilet.
About pharmacists
As qualified healthcare professionals, pharmacists can offer advice on minor illnesses such as:
- coughs
- colds
- sore throats
- tummy trouble
- aches and pains
They can also advise on medicine that you can buy without a prescription.
Many pharmacies are open until late and at weekends. You do not need an appointment.
Most pharmacies have a private room where you can discuss issues with pharmacy staff.
